I’ve got a new radio show.

I started a new REAL radio show through the actual air waves this week. It’s a kind of “global beats” type thing called Mo Glo on Radio New York 91.5 FM. You can check the play list here but not sure if it’s archived anywhere. I’ll find out more soon…..

DJ Kool Herc drops by the Two For Tennis show !

I still can’t quite believe this happened but listen to this week’s Two For Tennis show and you’ll hear me interviewing DJ Kool Herc, credited by many as inventing Hip Hop. He was in the hood handing out flyers for his party and just dropped by the station. Blimey.

You gotta love Gary Byrd in this video clip too.

My second favourite radio show.

The amazing Crazy Girl has uploaded a new episode of her really mind mending radio show to Brooklyn Radio Dot Net.
Check it out here: Eclectic Crazyland – Episode 49 – The Jimmy Dean Sausage Mix!

“Ladies and Germs -
I’m back again with a new show and new tunes to tickle your ears! I went out and paid 30 GBP for the Opal cd – Happy Nightmare Baby, released on SSt records in 1987, it was never repressed and not on itunes, but worth well the money!!! Just immerse yourselves in the psyche beauty of their track – Magick Power!!!  Gary Glitter, how ever evil he may be, sure made killer music with his band, and I think you’ll agree when you hear their cover of Baby Please Don’t Go. I had to play the second track of side one of John Cooper Clarke’s first ep. When you hear his song Innocents you’ll see where Arctic Monkeys got their influence from. Plus another track off my new fave band – Heavy Load’s album – Flashing Lights, not a Screaming Lord Sutch cover, but equally brilliant. Also Brazil’s number one Rock Star ever – Raul Seixas – with Rock Do Diabo. This track is killer and 100% rock and roll!!! And who knew I was his daughters baby sitter???? Plus the best rock song ever in the history of Rock and Roll and the first rock song that got me to want to make music, it was written by Paul Williams of all people!!! And was performed by The River Bottom Nightmare Band!!! If you have seen Jim Henson’s “Emmet Otters Jug Band Xmas”, then you’re already in the know! Think Alice Cooper performed by menacing puppets!!! Plus much much more!!!”

Turner Cody rules the airwaves this week.

Two massive doses of my favourite troubador Turner Cody on your radio dial this week. On Wed (yes, you missed it) and again on Sunday the UK’s Simple Folk radio show will be broadcasting an exclusive live set from Turner that he recorded on his last European tour.

You can also hear Turner and myself playing records on our almost weekly radio show, The Boy Scout Recordings Radio Hour, on BrooklyRadioDotNet. Turner actually managed to play a tune by Leonard Cohen that I liked ! He has been trying to do this for some time.

Last night @ The Rose Bar

For the last two years or so I have pretty much been paying the rent by playing records to arms dealers, models and celebrities at The Gramercy Park Hotel every Monday. Last night we had Anne Hathaway, Sean Penn, Kate Hudson and Salman Rushdie in, and probably more people I should recognise but it’s so freakin dark in there it’s hard to tell.

Anyway, track of the night was probably Kenimania by Mono Mono from the Nigeria Rock Special album. It certainly warmed the cockles of my heart to see Kate Hudson doing a little shuffle to that one.

Sorry about not posting that cover of Red Clay yet, still getting on top of things here at Tummy Touch HQ after the holidays.

Don’t forget to tune in to The Two For Tennis Show tonight at 6pm NY time.
